Inspiration sometimes sucks

Sometimes when you really miss someone you have a lot of anxious excess energy. Right now this is the case with me, but my energy feels like it isn't doing much more than burning holes in my head, so this last week I decided it was time for some of that energy to be burned off! One of my favourite friends is my pet duck, Little Fabian. Unfortunately for me, I am currently stuck in San Jose, CA (not my favourite of places at the best of times) for at least several months while my duck enjoys the hospitality of some very nice new friends (and their ducks) in Essex. The entire situation has been really difficult and painful for me, but I've finally gotten some interesting art out of it.

To begin with (for reference) here are some photos of Little Fabian: one of him with angry eyebrows (made of pond scum), one of him with spinach stuck on his bill, and one of him wearing a tiny hat!

 as you can see he lived in my room and was VERY friendly and cuddly...

this last photo gives you a good idea of his size and shape. 

And HERE is what I've spent the last couple days making:

He's hand sewn out of an old white scarf and some yellow felt I found around the house and I've hand stitched his eyes myself. Obviously he isn't as good as the original (meaning my duck of course) and he's not as good at going for walks in the park, but he's still quite cute!

What I found in the Attic...

 It wasn't a ghost or even a giant spider (although there were so many cobwebs, that would have been a logical guess). Instead I found old art work from before I started at UAL! and to my surprise some of it wasn't half bad!  I found: a couple old self-portraits,

Muppets, Movies, Cannibal Puppets

In this post, I've put a short video I made of a puppet throwing up, a stop-motion shadow puppet film which took about 9 hours to make and lasts about 40 seconds. I also added some photos of a couple puppets I made of fimo clay and pipe cleaners! The green one is named Scotty puppet, as you can see from his press photos he's on guitar in a rock band, with Kit. The photos are misleading as he rarely tries to kill her with his electric guitar.

I'd like to put up a "head" themed post today, to go along with my previous skull themed post. After all, where would one be without the other? All shrivelled up, that's where.

A funny idea I had about a girl who's a serial dater, but can't seem to let relationships go. Her ideas of interior design leave something to be desired, I think. 

tiny Tiny skulls

 I think I tend to do these blog posts in huge shoves! Today the first are going to be several pictures of tiny tiny skulls I made for my "seven places" project. No actual animals were harmed in the making, but several blocks of Fimo Clay were viciously sliced up. Lately I've been thinking about making them tiny automata bodies of wire and string to dance with.

 Alas, much of my art consists of poorly concealed puns.

 This is the skull of the fierce Tyrannosaurus Rex. Travel sized!

 This is the clay skull of a mouse, it's about the length of my thumbnail.
